WHAT IS CDM?
The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) cover the management of health, safety and welfare when carrying out construction projects. CDM 2015 replaced the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 (CDM 2007) from 6 April 2015, from this date, the Approved Code of Practice which provided supporting guidance on CDM 2007 was withdrawn.

The guidance, which includes the CDM Regulations 2015, is available to view at the Health and Safety Executive website and includes:
- The law that applies to the whole construction process on all construction projects, from concept to completion;
and
- What each duty holder must or should do to comply with the law to ensure projects are carried out in a way that secures health and safety
WHY DO I NEED A CDM ADVISOR?
Becoming a duty holder under the CDM Regulations comes with responsibilities. There are specific duties placed upon you and failure to discharge these duties may indirectly result in a fatality or major injury, potential criminal prosecution by the HSE and a devastating impact on your business reputation.
HSE can visit a site with no prior warning to carry out an inspection. They also have the powers to stop work if necessary, take photographs, examine and investigate, ask questions, review and request documentation at any given point.
